Program Description:

This program applies to students who want to start their LLM at our Philadelphia campus in the fall.

Our LLM for Foreign-Trained Lawyers is designed for those who received their first degree in law outside the United States.  The application deadline is March 15th and the program begins the first week of August.  A complete application includes:

- online application questionnaire*

- one page personal statement*

- resume*

- 2 recommendation letters*

- official law transcripts (received in a sealed envelope with English translation if needed)

- TOEFL score (waived if primary language is English or completed degree in English)

- $50 application fee

Two courses in Legal Research & Writing and an Introduction to American Legal Systems are required.  The remaining courses are determined by you and your academic adviser.  For example, if you are interested in contracts, environmental law, taxation, intellectual property or another subject Temple Law, offers you may take courses in those areas.  Most graduates are eligible to take the New York State Bar Exam.

The degree is 24 credits and most courses are worth 2-3 credits (hours course meets per week).  Full-time students (9 credits or more per semester) can complete the program in one academic year (August - May).  Part-time students (U.S. permanent residents & green card holders only) take 8 credits or less a semester and may, is desired, take up to four years to complete the program. 

Limited financial aid is available for this program.  To be considered for a partial scholarship, your application must be complete by the March 15th deadline and you must complete the financial aid questionnaire through the online application.  Full scholarships are not awarded.
